On April 20, 2022, the 6th National Learning Alliance (NLA) Dialogue for the Validation of “Egypt 2030 Shared Water Reuse Strategy”, organized by the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), which represents the fifth in a series of six national dialogues over the past two years to develop the Egypt Strategy 2030 Shared Water Reuse. This dialogue was within the framework of the ReWater MENA project funded by SIDA and led by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), and implemented in partnership with the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), in cooperation with relevant stakeholders in Egypt. The 5th National Learning Alliance Consultation Dialogue for the “Consultation on Egypt 2030 Shared Water Reuse Strategy”, Wednesday, July 28, 2021

On July 28, 2021, the 5th National Learning Alliance (NLA) Consultation Dialogue was held for Consultation on the “Egypt 2030 Shared Water Reuse Strategy”, organized by the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), which represents the fifth in a series of six national dialogues over the past two years to develop the Egypt Strategy 2030 Shared Water Reuse. 4th ReWater National Learning Alliance Dialogue for Egypt Wastewater & Water Reuse 2030 Targets Validation, Monday, April 26th, 2021 (Online Meeting), 10:30 AM – 02:00 PM (Cairo Local Time)

The Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) organized, the Fourth National Learning Alliance Dialogue on Water Reuse to validate the national and local targets for water reuse 2030. CEDARE is working within the framework of the ReWater project, funded by the Swedish Development Agency International (SIDA), and in partnership with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and other partners.  The workshop was held in the presence of many experts in this field, including the Ministries of Housing, Agriculture, Environment, Water Resources and Irrigation and the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation.

Dr. Khaled AbuZeid, Regional Director of Water Resources at CEDARE, welcomed the participants and opened the dialogue on validation of the water reuse targets. The targets of water reuse include both National and Local Targets. Continue reading

3rd National Steering Committee Meeting, March 11th, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM (Virtual Cairo Local Meeting)

The ReWater MENA Egypt project is developing the “National 2030 Water Reuse Targets and Strategy” which aims for “More and Safer Water Reuse”.  The project is supported by SIDA and lead by IWMI and implemented by CEDARE and key governmental and professional stakeholders.

The Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) organized the 3rd National Steering Committee Meeting for the ReWater Egypt project, using the Video Conference technology, to discuss the progress made in ” Egypt 2030 Water Reuse Targets” and to discuss the preparation for the 4th National Learning Alliance Dialogue on the “Validation of the Egypt 2030 Water Reuse Targets”. Consultation Workshop on “Egypt Joint Wastewater & Water Reuse Strategy 2030”, for the ReWater Project – 3rd National Learning Alliance Group to Discuss the Proposed Local and National Targets of Egypt’s Wastewater Reuse Strategy 2030, October, 14th 2020

The ReWater MENA project aims to reuse water safely by developing Joint National Water Reuse Strategy 2030. The project, funded by SIDA, led by the International Institute for Water Management (IWMI), is being implemented by the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) in collaboration with the International Center for Agricultural Research in dry areas (ICARDA) and other national stakeholders in Egypt.

The Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) in cooperation with Lisode using the video conference technology have organized the 3rd NLA workshop to discuss the local, national and proposed targets for the Joint National Water Reuse Strategy 2030 on October, 14th 2020, prepared by CEDARE under the ReWater project in Egypt, that is funded by the Swedish Agency for International Development (SIDA), and under the leadership of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and other partners in this field.

Second National Steering Committee Meeting, ReWater Egypt, CEDARE, Cairo, December 18, 2019

Egypt’s 2nd National Steering Committee (NSC) meeting was held in Cairo’s Center for Environment and Development for The Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) which brought members together to share achievements, challenges, and guide future strategies on the 18th of December, 2019.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Khaled AbuZeid CEDARE’s regional water resources director inaugurated the meeting by welcoming the National Steering Committee members. The head of IWMI MENA’s office in Cairo Dr. Amgad ElMahdi the International Water Management Institute’s (IWMI) head of MENA region also welcomed the members and thanked them for attending the meeting and for their contribution to the project. CEDARE launched the ReWater MENA project first National Learning Alliance (NLA) Workshop in Egypt on May 20, 2019. The project is funded by the Swedish SIDA and lead by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). CEDARE and ICARDA are leading the implementation of project activities in Egypt. First National Steering Committee Meeting, ReWater Egypt, CEDARE, Cairo, March 14, 2019

On March 14, 2019, the ReWater Mena project held Egypt’s First National Steering Committee Meeting, which brought together representatives from the uptake partners (Ministries of Agriculture, Environment and Housing); project partners leading implementation of project activities in Egypt at the local and national levels – the International Centre for Agriculture in the Dry areas (ICARDA) and Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE); and representatives from the Arab Water Council (AWC) and International Water Management Institute (IWMI), which leads the project. IWMI launches ReWater MENA at Cairo Water Week, Cairo, October 17, 2018

To promote the safe reuse of treated wastewater in the Middle East and North Africa, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and its partners have launched ReWater MENA, a 4-year regional project with specific activities in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. Drawing on experience with existing water reuse strategies in the region, the project will identify promising innovations and validated models to address management bottlenecks that constrain water reuse.
